timed event

Terms from Artificial Intelligence: humans at the heart of algorithms

A timed event is an event that occurs at a. specific time, typically triggering some behavior in a software agent or robot. The timing may be fxef (e.g. at 4pm), periodic (e.g. every 5 second) or after a delay (e.g. after 100ms). This is contrast to user events, system events or status change events in the enviornment. However, a perodic event is oftern used for polling, where a sensor is monitored in order to detect changes in status.
